Department of Political Science

B.N College was established in 1889, and the Department of Political Science was one of the oldest departments in the college. The Department of Political Science engages the students to debate, discourse, interrogate and contest the historical and political processes of change in contemporary times. There is constant effort on the part of the teachers and students to rigorously analyze the complexities of the issues and dilemmas that are critical in society.  The department, believes not only in excellence in academic arena but also equal devotion to extracurricular activities such as debating, quiz completion, interactive sessions. At regular interval the department organizes interactive event which is conducted with an objective to enhance and develop analytical, creative and public speaking skills of the students.

Professor Sant Lal Singh was the first faculty member and head of the department. Then after Professor K.S Lal, Professor Shrikrishna Singh, Dr Sachidanand Sharma, Dr. Khalid Mirza, Dr. M.N Hoda are the other permanent retired faculty members who have contributed to the growth of the department. Dr. Amrita Jaiswal is the present Head of Department, before she joined Dr. S.D Mishra from department of Psychology was the acting HOD of Political Science.

The course curriculum provides an in-depth understanding of Political Theory & Political Thought, Comparative Politics, Constitution, International Relations, Global Issues and Challenges, Political Sociology and Public Administration. The study of political science opens avenue for entry into careers in teaching & research, civil services, journalism, law and administration.

The department of Political Science organizes smart classes and also provides platform to students to express themselves. Students of the department are not only actively participating in intradepartmental events but they are also actively participative in events, quiz, competition outside the college.
