About the course:
The Course was started on the basis of notification of Patna University vide letter no. P.U. 23/94-82 GS(1) / OSD related to ordinance for admission of students to B.A./BSc. (Vocational) Honours course at Patna University and proposed amendment in B.A. / B.Sc. (Vocational) Three-years Hons. Course ordinance & regulation vide letter no. – P.U. 11/2003-477 / Chancellor’s secretariat(1), dated 9.4.2003. The total no. of seats is 30. The eligibility for admission to this co-educational vocational course, the candidate must have passed the Intermediate / equivalent / +2 Exam of Board/University of the Central or State Board 1 with at least 55% marks for general category candidates and 45% marks for S.T., S.C. / B.C. I category candidates in aggregate. The desirous candidate must qualify at the aptitude test followed by a viva-voce test to be conducted by the College/department.

Aims: 
The main aim of the course is to impart teaching in English language & literature, both written and spoken, to the students The Vocational Course in Functional English has the three years Honors Course in Functional English.The Vocational Course in Functional English, aims at equipping the students with such English language & literature to skills meet the various job requirements. The course has been so designed that if they acquire proficiency in it, it will enable them to compete in the job market. In short, the course will be imparting job-oriented education to them.

Scope:
After passing this course the student can easily get the job of Announcer (T.V. & Radio), News Reader (T.V. & Radio), Commentator (Radio), Compere (Radio), Receptionist, Conversational English Tutor, Sales Representatives and Public Relation officer etc.
